17-Year-Old Rayna Has Been Pursuing Her Passion For Football - And Defining Success On Her Own Terms

For 17-year-old Rayna, success goes beyond academic results, currently studying Sports Management at ITE College West, she hopes to pursue a Diploma in Sports Coaching and build a career in the sports industry as a football coach.

Rayna said her passion for football has shaped her education journey, teaching her the importance of discipline, teamwork and perseverance.

However, balancing regular training with studies can sometimes be challenging, as she feels the pressure to do well in both.

Some of this pressure may come from expectations around academic achievement and comparisons with peers.

Her family, however, have come to understand her passion for sports and supports her in her pursuit.

Rayna thinks that activities outside the classroom can help young people discover their strengths and passion.

She believes sports, CCAs, the arts and volunteering allow young people to explore their interests and develop skills such as communication and perseverance.

Playing for Football Association of Singapore (FAS) Under-19 team has also helped her develop teamwork, discipline and leadership skills, while becoming more confident in working with different people.

Football has not only been a passion for Rayna, but also built her confidence, friendships and skills beyond the classroom.

Rayna's experience highlights how young people can flourish when given the space to explore their interests and define success on their own terms.
