Macklemore Dropped From Ed Sheeran Tour After 'Free Palestine' Remarks

American rapper Macklemore has been removed from the remaining US dates of Ed Sheeran's Loop Tour after several stadiums reportedly refused to host shows with him on the lineup, following his pro-Palestine remarks at two MetLife Stadium concerts.

During the shows, Macklemore declared "Free Palestine" and performed Hind's Hall alongside images of Gaza. He also stressed that his criticism of Israel was not directed at Jewish people.

His remarks later drew criticism from pro-Israel groups, including calls for Sheeran to remove him from the tour.

In a lengthy Instagram statement, Macklemore said Sheeran told him New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, whose group owns Gillette Stadium, would not allow him to perform there.

Kraft later confirmed the decision, citing what he described as Macklemore's history of antisemitic rhetoric and imagery.

Tour promoter Messina Touring Group also confirmed multiple venues had objected to Macklemore's participation.
