Man Gets Personal Protection Order (PPO) After Wife Sent Al-Generated Sex Images Of Him And His Sister

A Singapore family court has granted a man a Personal Protection Order (PPO) against his wife after she sent him messages, AI-generated images and videos falsely depicting him having sex with his sister.

The dispute escalated after the husband agreed to contribute $100,000 towards his father's medical bills and told his wife that he had transferred about $65,000 to his sister.

In response, the wife sent him messages containing sexual accusations about his sister-in-law, as well as explicit fake images and videos generated using a free artificial intelligence application.

In granting the PPO, Magistrate Soh Kian Peng said the messages were "hideously offensive and vile" and that the husband was evidently "tormented and distressed" during the trial.

The magistrate found that the messages and images had inflicted emotional or psychological abuse on the husband, amounting to family violence.

He also found a high risk that the wife would continue such behaviour and ruled that a protection order was necessary.

The court also ordered the couple to undergo counselling.

The magistrate also called for a preliminary assessment report on the wife, who had previously been admitted to the Institute of Mental Health twice, with a view to possible mandatory treatment for a psychiatric condition.

The misuse of AI to create sexually explicit images and deepfakes has emerged as a growing concern in Singapore, with previous cases involving manipulated sexual images reported to the police.

In April 2026, the SPF warned of harassment emails involving digitally manipulated images, after at least three cases were reported since March.

The victims received emails at their work addresses containing altered images depicting them engaging in sexual acts.

The case comes as Singapore has strengthened legal protections against sexually explicit deepfakes and AI-generated intimate images.

In February 2025, the Government said it would amend the Penal Code to clarify that existing offences cover sexually explicit deepfakes created using AI.

Amendments introduced later that year also sought to criminalise the production of intimate images, including completely synthetic AI-generated images, without consent.
