TikTokers user claimed that the scammers were approaching Malay looking pilgrims to offer their services priced between 50-100 SAR (SGD 18-36).
However, instead of the full service, they are said to simply take photos with their "clients'" names as proof.
As the Hajj pilgrimage is an obligation on all able-bodied Muslims, Badal Haji is a form of substituted service that has the provider performing the Hajj on behalf of Muslims who cannot do it themselves.
The practice is usually done by certified Haji agencies.
