Singaporean photographer Edmund Wong landed an unexpected career highlight when Cristiano Ronaldo reposted one of his photos on Instagram.
The 30-year-old freelance photographer said the shot was taken while he was covering the Portugal vs Uzbekistan match at the 2026 World Cup as accredited media.
Edmund shared that his elevated spot in the stadium gave him the perfect angle to train his lens on the Portuguese star.
When Ronaldo eventually scored, he raced towards his teammates in celebration, and Edmund captured the moment in an instant.
After sharing the photo on Instagram, Edmund was surprised to discover that it had appeared in a post on Cristiano Ronaldo's own account. He said he was unsure how the image made its way there, but guessed that someone from the Portugal national team may have spotted it online.
Edmund, who has been working as a photographer since 2022, has covered several major sporting events, including football matches. He said he was thankful to have his work noticed by Ronaldo.
