We Went to Muar for Their Wedding and YB Syed Saddiq Welcomed Us

After a night of heavy rain, Muar woke to clear skies. By morning, the roadside queue was already growing.
Under the hot sun, umbrellas went up, but spirits stayed high as strangers encouraged one another.
At 2pm, YB stepped out to a roar of cheers. We told him we'd come all the way from Singapore. He reached out and clasped our hands in both of his we were the very first guests he greeted.
After greeting us, YB opened the car door for Bella. They made their way into the hall as the crowd cheered. Moving through the throng wasn't easy, but both kept smiling.
Inside, it felt like a celebration shared by everyone. Guests explored photobooths, picked up goodie bags, watched an artist paint the couple and enjoyed ice cream.
Over nasi minyak and ayam masak merah, strangers shared tables. YB later said 16,000 food servings were prepared and all 12,000 door gifts were gone.
"This Isn't an Official Event. It's for the People." In his TikTok Live, YB Syed Saddiq urged his team to bring more people inside. Guests were waiting downstairs in the heat, and he wanted them in the hall not left waiting for seats.
Everyone wanted a photo when YB returned. He tried group shots of four, but the queue kept growing. With time running short, he switched to quick wefies, still trying to give people their moment.
YB's parents were happy to hear we had travelled from Singapore. Bella's parents welcomed us too, giving us a goodie bag. Her father even offered a prayer for us.
As the crowd streamed out, we found ourselves right behind YB and Bella, filming as they waved goodbye. "Take care, thanks for making the time," YB said.
We called out once more; he looked back before driving into the Muar sunset.
Next stop: Sabah, 31 October.
