Claims of Vietnamese Individuals Selling Dog Meat In Singapore Spark Online Outrage Over Foreigners

Claims that dog meat is being sold in Singapore have surfaced online, with authorities urged to investigate the alleged sales.

A Facebook post shared on 23 Sept 2026 in a group for Vietnamese people living in Singapore alleged that several Vietnamese individuals were involved in selling dog meat.

According to the post, the original author obtained a contact number allegedly linked to one of the purported sellers and urged others to report the matter to the police and relevant authorities.

Some commenters also claimed to have purchased the meat and described it as "delicious"

It was not immediately clear when or where the alleged sales took place, and the claims have not been independently verified.

The sale of dog meat is not permitted in Singapore, according to the former Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA), now part of the Singapore Food Agency (SFA)

SFA has also said that enforcement action would be taken against those caught selling food products in public spaces without a valid licence.

The latest claims come after reports of alleged illegal raw meat sales at the void deck of a Sengkang block drew the attention of the SFA.

In a video shared with Stomp, a resident showed several people gathered around a table, with slabs of meat, a weighing scale and a cleaver visible.

Based on the accents heard in the video, some netizens speculated that the individuals were from mainland China, prompting criticism over what commenters described as foreign practices being brought into Singapore.
