Haze Blamed Online After Johor Crash Kills Three Siblings

A Threads post linking a fatal motorcycle crash in Johor to thick haze has drawn attention online, as police investigate the collision that killed three siblings aged 18, 11 and 8.
Threads user @adamnadh claimed that heavy haze caused the motorcycle to enter the opposite lane before the crash in Pontian.
A follow-up post shared photographs of the scene and prayers for the victims.
The collision occurred along Jalan Parit Haji Sirat at around 7am on Thursday (Oct 8). The siblings were reportedly returning from Sekolah Kebangsaan Parit Sarpan in Kayu Ara Pasong after discovering that the school was closed.
Their motorcycle was believed to have struck the front of a lorry travelling in the opposite direction.
Reports described thick fog and haze along the road at the time. However, the Threads post's claim that haze caused the motorcycle to enter the opposite lane has not been confirmed by police.
Pontian district police chief Superintendent Hadzrat Hussein Mion Hussian said investigations were ongoing.
The tragedy occurred on the first day of Johor's statewide school closure on Oct 8 and 9.
The closure followed a directive from Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim to protect students amid worsening haze and deteriorating air quality.
