S'pore Drivers Decline Woman's Plea For A Lift, Migrant Worker Agrees Without Hesitation

A TikTok video by user rixh.ellee has gone viral after she shared how a kind migrant worker offered her and her companions a lift when they were unable to secure a ride home.

In the video, she said they had been unable to book a ride through any ride-hailing platform for 30 minutes.

After unsuccessfully asking several Singaporeans for a lift to a more accessible location, they spotted a man who was about to leave around midnight and asked if he could drop them off somewhere nearby with better transport options.

He agreed without hesitation, prompting her to describe him as "the kindest"

She ended the video by sharing that the stranger had told her he would be returning to India in January, adding that he had missed much of his son's childhood while working abroad.

In the comments, many netizens praised the stranger's kindness, while others hoped the user had offered him some cash in appreciation of his time and effort.

Others also shared their own experiences of receiving kindness from migrant workers, recounting moments when they had been helped by them.

This is not the first time migrant workers in Singapore have stepped forward to help members of the public.

In a widely reported incident in 2025, 15 migrant workers helped rescue 15 children and six adults from a fire at an enrichment centre along River Valley Road.

Using ladders and scaffolding from a nearby construction site, they helped those trapped on the upper floors reach safety.

In another high-profile incident in July 2025, seven migrant workers rescued a woman whose car plunged into a sinkhole along Tanjong Katong Road South. They used a nylon rope to pull her to safety before the hole filled with water.

The workers were later recognised by the Ministry of Manpower for their quick actions.
