Vendors Cry Foul Over Last-Minute $25 Rack Fee at Joo Chiat Pop-Up

Several small business owners have accused the organiser, who also owns the Joo Chiat event space, of imposing a last-minute $25 fee on vendors bringing their own clothing racks.

According to screenshots shared on Threads, vendors had already paid in full for the lifestyle pop-up scheduled for Sept 26 and 27 when the additional charge was announced two days before the event.

The original terms and conditions instructed vendors renting an open space to bring their own racks, with no additional fee stated.

The organiser later acknowledged that the charge had not been mentioned previously, but said it was introduced to account for the "additional consideration, planning and allowance" required for external fixtures.

When vendors objected and requested refunds, the organiser reportedly maintained that the bookings were non-refundable.

In the group chat, the organiser also responded "my studio, my rules" after one vendor said the new charge was not included in the agreed terms.
