The parliamentary proceedings involving Workers' Party MPs Sylvia Lim and Faisal Manap have effectively come to an end after Leader of the House Indranee Rajah said no further parliamentary action could be taken against the pair as the matter is now barred by statutory time limits.
Rajah said the High Court's judgment in Singh's case had effectively affirmed the Committee of Privileges' findings against the pair. However, the current 15th Parliament can no longer impose penalties as the alleged conduct occurred during the 14th Parliament.
However, the matter remains unresolved for WP chief Pritam Singh. Following the High Court's decision to uphold his conviction for lying to a parliamentary committee, Singh is now facing separate disciplinary proceedings as a lawyer before Singapore's Court of Three Judges - the highest disciplinary tribunal for the legal profession.
The Law Society of Singapore has initiated disciplinary proceedings against Singh following his conviction. The Court of Three Judges has the power to suspend him from legal practice or strike him off the roll of advocates and solicitors.
The developments also came shortly after the WP's internal elections in June 2026, during which a group of dissatisfied party cadres unsuccessfully attempted to force Singh's resignation ahead of the vote.
Singh was subsequently re-elected unopposed as the party's secretary-general.

The saga dates back to Aug 2021, when former WP MP Raeesah Khan admitted to lying in Parliament about accompanying a sexual assault survivor to a police station.
Her admission triggered a Committee of Privileges inquiry in Nov 2021 that eventually drew in Singh, Lim and Faisal over their handling of the matter.
Then in Jan 2026, Rajah tabled a motion in Parliament on Singh's suitability to continue as Leader of the Opposition following the High Court's dismissal of his appeal.
Parliament eventually passed a motion deeming Singh unsuitable to continue as Leader of the Opposition, following which Prime Minister Lawrence Wong removed him from the role.
