Elon Musk Reacts To Singapore's National Day Rally Push On Birth Rates: 'HumansAre Disappearing

Elon Musk has weighed in on Singapore's declining birth rate, saying "Humans are disappearing" in response to a post about the measures announced at this year's National Day Rally.

Musk was responding to an X post highlighting Singapore's record-low total fertility rate of 0.87 in 2025 and the Government's measures to support families.

The post, by X user Freeze, referenced initiatives announced by PM Lawrence Wong on 23 Aug 2026, including $70,000 in financial support for each Singaporean child from birth to age 17, expanded childcare leave and increased opportunities for first-time families to secure BTO flats.

However, the user added that cash incentives alone would not solve Singapore's declining birth rate, arguing that the measures instead address practical challenges such as the cost of raising children, time, childcare and housing.

Elon Musk has repeatedly spoken publicly about declining birth rates and what he sees as the risk of population decline.

In December 2024, he responded to a post about Singapore's low fertility rate by saying "Singapore (and many other countries) are going extinct"

In August 2022, he said population collapse caused by low birth rates was a bigger risk to civilisation than global warming.
