The Government will retain more greenery than originally planned at Maju Forest and Gillman Barracks, with fewer homes expected to be built at both sites following public feedback.
Minister of State for National Development Alvin Tan said on 14 Aug 2026 that the revised plans would include "even more greenery", although the exact amount has yet to be determined. The trade-off would be a reduction in the number of homes that can be built.

The use of alternative sites has been addressed in Parliament.
On 4 Aug, Tan said the Government had assessed brownfield, vacant and underused sites, considering factors such as existing leases, competing land uses and whether the surrounding infrastructure could support new housing.
In addition, the Government announced in 2025 that 6 golf courses would not have their leases renewed, with some of the sites eventually earmarked for housing. This includes the former sites of Orchid Country Club and Warren Golf & Country Club, which have been identified for residential development.
The redevelopment of Maju Forest has faced public scrutiny since the plans were announced on 10 July, with petitions and nature groups calling for greater protection of the site.
