Syed Saddiq Case Deferred Again Over Judge's Illness

The Federal Court's decision on the prosecution's appeal in Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman's case was postponed on Tuesday (June 30), prompting mixed reactions online as many questioned the latest delay.

The court had been scheduled to deliver its judgment on the prosecution's appeal against Syed Saddiq's acquittal on four charges involving criminal breach of trust, dishonest misappropriation of property and money laundering linked to Armada funds.

However, proceedings were adjourned after Federal Court judge Justice Che Mohd Ruzima Ghazali fell ill.

Court of Appeal President Justice Abu Bakar Jais said the decision, although already prepared, could not be delivered without the full three-member panel.

The case has been rescheduled to July 13.

The postponement came after the Court of Appeal acquitted Syed Saddiq on 25 June 2025, setting aside his 2023 High Court conviction and sentence of seven years' imprisonment, two strokes of the cane and a RM10 million fine.

The Attorney General's Chambers subsequently appealed the ruling to the Federal Court.

Syed Saddiq said he respected the court's decision and was prepared to wait longer to clear his name.
